Restoration Guide

For any parts you could need, as you may know, unfortunately Maserati no longer has "Classic" parts available. You can try to contact their official workshop/bodyshop in Modena "Carrozzeria Campana". They still have a good stock of original Maserati parts for classic cars.

Wheel Rims: Borrani alloy disc wheels should be argent/silver as delivered from Borrani to Touring, as Touring assembled the body after the chassis was delivered from Gilco. This 3500 (as an early car) may have the “first generation” Gilco chassis with a wider sill/rocker. And has other “first series” early differences unique to the 1958-1959 series 3500GT.
Although Maserati would usually respond positively to buyers requests for special additions, paint, coach work or slight engine “updrades”, the Borrani Disc wheels were painted argent/silver as delivered from Borrani. There are exceptions, but I don’t believe this car or many others were delivered from Touring to Maserati with body color matched alloy disc wheels. Over time the “argent” paint has tended to “golden” with age, and some wheels appear to be a gold color.
Points to Mark (restorer) for getting the fresh air intake ducting correct! Also, correct washer bottle, often overlooked and incorrectly restored. Correct FISPA air cleaner decal on the air cleaner, almost always missing. Nice!
